Why donate and buy Pre-Loved Clothes

The fashion industry has a huge impact on our environment, which is why recycling clothes and choosing preloved fashion are becoming increasingly important. Every year, millions of tonnes of clothing are thrown away, much of which could have been reused, repaired, donated or recycled.

Preloved fashion is a simple and effective way to make our wardrobes more sustainable. Buying clothes from the Community Closet or other charity shops gives your wardrobe a longer life. Rather than constantly buying the latest trends and throwing clothes away when they are no longer fashionable, choosing preloved items encourages us to think more carefully about what we buy and how long we keep it.

There are also financial benefits to choosing preloved fashion. Second-hand clothing is often more affordable, allowing people to find good-quality clothes without spending as much money. Donating your unwanted clothes to us can support the important work we do at the Broadwater Support Community Hub.

It is great that our customers at the Hub can pop 2 doors down to be able to look and buy something for themselves as the prices are so good.

Here at the Community Closet, once our donations are sorted out, they will all find a home - either into the shop, donated to other charities locally and any textile waste, we use a free charity doorstep collection service, who donate any profit to our chosen charity. We have chosen Advance, who help women and children fleeing domestic abuse rebuild their lives.
